Pink peppercorn
Spices close up
January 26, 2018
Pink peppercorns are dried fruits of the Peruvian peppertree (Shinus molle). It is also called false pepper or Californian pepper tree, and it's not related with the black pepper plant.
Harvest the fruits and put them in a ventilated and dark place, because sunlight can cause peppercorns to lose color.
Garnish with a single pink peppercorn some small appetizers like these kiwi and soft cheese skewers: the spicy taste will be perfect with the sweetness of the fruit and the taste of cheese.
Pink pepper has tonic and stimulating properties, and is sometimes considered an aphrodisiac.
