April gardening tips: The harvest begins

ChamomileIt's harvest time for chamomile: rake the flower heads from the plants at intervals. The flowers should be rapidly dried in the shade.

DandelionGather the dandelion leaves early in the spring. After the plants flower they will be bitter and hard.
I prepared a salad with these leaves: Dandelion Salad with Egg Seasoning.


Roses and LoquatsHarvest the roses before they unfold. Dry the petals and use them for herbal teas, or as a spice in this recipe: Herb Baked Omelette (Kuku)

The loquats are starting to ripen too: I used for a smooth Fruit and Mint Milkshake...


Loquats vs turtle...and my turtles are really appreciating them!


Thai BasilOk, it's early for basil. But these tiny leaves of basil thai were perfect on my tomato bruschetta.
