I started to think that the alexanders seeds were not viable, when I finally saw several seedlings.

Alexanders takes its name from Alexander the Great, and was once widespread in ancient Rome.
Every part of the plant is edible, the leaves are an aromatic herb, the roots can be eaten raw or cooked and the dark seeds can be used as a spice.
