July gardening tips: Aromatic herbs, blooming
Growing aromatic herbs
July 06, 2008
My pregnancy is in the so called blooming period, and my plants are blooming too.
Tiny or giant, some flowers die after a day, others are harvested... and all are beautiful.
Thai basil flowers are big and rounded, and their color is stunning. I used this for Grilled Tuna Salad
Dandelion is a very useful plant. Leaves can't be eaten in summer, so I use them for compost because they're rich in minerals. These flowers were the touch of color in a tomato salad with calamint.
Cinnamon Basil smells wonderful, and I used it in the Chocolate and Cinnamon Basil Patties.
Another aromatic herb, this oregano bloom is more than 50 cm long.
It's harvest time!
I forget the name of these flowers, my parents planted them 30 years ago. The older bulbs have been there since then, and they bloom every summer.
This is my first nasturtium flower. Today it was already dead, but I'm waiting for others.
Even nasturtium can be eaten, but I choose to let it grow instead of harvest it.
