Recipe: Wonton sweet and sour sauce
Sauces, dressings and dips with spices
February 18, 2010
As I told in the post homemade five-spice powder, I prepared a special romantic dinner with chinese dishes for both Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year.
I cooked stuffed wonton, spring rolls, fried sesame croutons, ginger soup, cantonese rice, five spices omelette, pechinese spare ribs and two sauces.
This is one of them: the sweet and sour sauce for steamed wonton, spring rolls and other chinese fried starters.
Sweet and sour sauce
Ingredients
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp soya sauce
1 tbsp apple vinegar
1 tbsp cornstarch
30ml water
Directions
Dissolve the cornstarch into the water, then add the ketchup, soya sauce and apple vinegar.
Put in a small pan and cook over low heat, stirring until it thickens.
Remove from heat and serve at room temperature.
